While founders and developer have always cared about user experience, but the softwares in the market are becoming saturated. One copy of the another, in the coming years - the companies will take this a step further by investing more heavily into what’s known as human-centric software development.
The softwares that will stand out in the future, will have a touch of human interaction throughout the software.
According to Progress Software’s 2024 Human Side of Software Report, which surveyed 700 developers and IT leaders, over half of organizations will invest more in this type of development, which places a focus on creating applications and features designed with their users in mind, and specifically considering that people of different mental and physical abilities will be using them.
Even though technology is ruling our world, yet we see so many software built without keeping humans in mind. And interfaces that hamper the experiences rather than enhancing it. There are five pillars of human-centric software -
1. It must be trustworthy
2. Easy and intuitive to use
3. Enjoyable
4. Inclusive and accessible to all
5. Have rich functionality.
These five pillars also ensure that your customers keep coming back to your softwares and in turn help softwares become profitable faster than ever.

Ask anyone about their favorite work software, and you will likely find a list of complains hanging. The root of the problem lies in the top-down design approach adopted by systems, orchestrated by individuals with minimal concern for those on the front lines.
The softwares now won't be judged by how many features they have, or which feature do you have extra from your competitor. The era of we are better than the competitors is now gone. Think about your home, how you design it ?
- First you have a beautiful lawn, saying welcome
- Then the guests come in, a stand to put in shoes
- Then keychain, and a space to hang your coat
This is human centric approach, keeping in mind how the customers perceive your software and how each experience would shape up their journey.
If you still aren't thinking human centric softwares, you will be outdated soon.
