- Learn what’s absolutely essential to maintain your edge
- Invest in the capabilities AI can’t replicate yet
Once you find that sweet spot, your leadership won’t just survive this era. It’ll compound.
1. The New Leadership Edge Is Tech Fluency
You don’t need to be an engineer. But you do need to think like one.
Tech fluency - the ability to understand, question, and leverage technology — is what separates reactive leaders from transformative ones. It’s the difference between chasing trends and shaping them.
Today’s founders don’t need to write code. But they do need to know the difference between an API call and a fine-tuned model. Why? Because it changes how you scope a feature, hire a team, or pitch a product.
Fluency = faster, better decisions. That’s the edge.
2. Signal Over Noise: What to Actually Learn
The tech world is noisy. Every week brings a new framework, a new AI paper, a new “must-have” tool.
Most of it? Irrelevant for you.
What matters is mastering a few foundational ideas:
- APIs and how data flows between systems
- The core mechanics of LLMs and transformers
- Latency, scalability, and why they matter for product
- RAG vs fine-tuning, and when to use which
- The role of feedback loops in building smarter systems

- Use GPT to break down what you don’t understand
- Dedicate 30 minutes a week to ask: What’s changing? And does it matter for my product or strategy?
Also, the more you learn, the better you hire.
You’ll know what matters in a technical candidate — and what’s fluff.
The future belongs to builders who understand technology, not just surround themselves with it.
You don’t need to be technical. You need to be technically fluent.
